MotioCI integrates directly to IBM Cognos allowing a user to have sole access to editing a report opened up in Report Studio. This capability is granted by MotioCI's exclusive locking system. A report author can check-out a report directly from Report Studio, which alerts other users attempting to work on the same report that it is currently checked-out. Other users still have viewing access to the report and are notified as the state of the lock changes, such as a check-in.
The effectiveness of the this report-locking concept communicates content changes amongst report authors within the same BI team. Additionally, like all content in the Content Store, MotioCI version control tracks any changes made to an item while using the locking system.
